Export Fitbit period data
If you logged periods in the Fitbit app, those entries are part of your Google Health archive in Google Takeout. They sit in their own folder of CSV files. Here is where to look and how to keep just them, for the dates you want, without sending them anywhere.
Where cycle logs are in the archive
Open-source importers that read Fitbit archives list a folder called Menstrual Health with four CSV files:
| File | What it holds |
|---|---|
menstrual_health_cycles.csv | Your logged periods and the cycles Fitbit worked out from them |
menstrual_health_symptoms.csv | Symptoms you logged, by day |
menstrual_health_birth_control.csv | Birth control entries |
menstrual_health_settings.csv | Your cycle settings |
The exact columns can differ between archives, and Google has not published them. If your archive has no such folder, either no cycles were logged or that export left them out; Tallyband lists every kind of file it finds, so you can check in a minute.
Keep only your cycle data, for your dates
- Request the archive in Google Takeout with only Google Health (or Fitbit) ticked. Takeout has no way to pick cycle data alone.
- Open the ZIP in Tallyband. The menstrual health files appear under Download as their own tables.
- Set the dates and download each one as CSV. Tallyband finds the date column and keeps only the rows in your range; a file with no dates in it (the settings) comes out whole.
Why it matters that nothing is uploaded
Cycle logs are among the most sensitive data a phone holds. Many online converters ask you to upload the archive to their server. Tallyband reads the ZIP inside your browser tab: the files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
What you can do with the CSV
Keep it as your own record, open it in Excel or Numbers, or share it with a clinician. Most cycle-tracking apps have no import for another app's export, so moving the history into a new app usually means typing in the dates you need. Tallyband shows your own entries and gives no medical advice.
Open your archive and download only the cycle files, for the dates you choose. Nothing is uploaded.
Open your Takeout archiveQuestions
Does the Fitbit export include period data?
Archives read by open-source importers have a Menstrual Health folder with cycles, symptoms, birth control and settings as CSV files. It only holds what you logged.
Can I export just my period data from Google Health?
Not from Google: Takeout exports the whole Google Health archive. Tallyband lets you download only the menstrual health files from it, cut to your dates.
Can I import Fitbit cycle data into another app?
Few cycle apps import other apps' exports. Keep the CSV as your record and enter the dates you need in the new app.
