Using Photo Date Fixer

Photo Date Fixer is a free browser tool, operated by Peak Apps Studio, that writes dates, times and locations into copies of the photos and videos in your Snapchat My Data export. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the tool.

You need no account. The tool is meant for people who can use Snapchat under Snap's own terms.

What the tool does

You add the ZIP files of your export. The tool reads them in your browser, matches each photo and video to its entry in the memories list and writes fixed copies into new ZIP parts, together with a CSV report. We never receive your files. Everything happens on your device, as the privacy policy explains. Your original ZIP files are not changed.

What we ask of you

  • Keep your original export files, and do not delete them until you have checked the fixed copies.
  • Check the results. The CSV report shows how each file was matched and which entries had no file. Read it before you delete anything.
  • Use the tool with your own export, or with an export you have permission to use.
  • Mind what you share. The fixed photos and the report contain dates, times and locations.

No warranty

The tool is provided as it is, without promises about its results or its availability. Snapchat changes its export format from time to time, so some files may not match a memory, or may match only to within 2 seconds. We may change or stop the tool at any time.

To the extent the law allows, Peak Apps Studio is not liable for lost files, wrong or missing dates, or other damage that comes from using the tool. This does not limit any right that the law gives you and that cannot be waived.

No connection to Snapchat

Photo Date Fixer is not affiliated with Snap Inc. Snapchat is a trademark of Snap Inc. We use the name only to describe the export that the tool reads. The tool never connects to Snapchat, never asks for your login and never uses the download links in your export. Your use of Snapchat and of your export is governed by Snap's own terms.

Fonts and open-source parts

The two typefaces made for the fixer's pages are modified versions of two open fonts, published by their project authors at GitHub under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1.

  • “Datestamp Display” is a modified version of Mona Sans, reduced to a subset of characters and to a narrower range of weights and widths. Copyright 2022 The Mona Sans Project Authors. Read the license text for Mona Sans.
  • “Datestamp Text” is a modified version of Hubot Sans, reduced in the same way. Copyright 2021 The Hubot Sans Project Authors. Read the license text for Hubot Sans.

Both fonts are renamed because “Mona” and “Hubot” are Reserved Font Names under that license. The license applies to the fonts themselves, not to the rest of the fixer or of peakappsstudio.com.

The tool finds the time zone of a place with tz-lookup, a library released under CC0 1.0. Its time zone boundary data comes from timezone-boundary-builder by Evan Siroky, which publishes that data under the Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL).

Changes and contact

We may update these terms. When they change, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. If you keep using the tool after a change, the new terms apply to you.
