Threadkeep

Does the Reddit data request include your saved posts?

Yes. The ZIP from reddit.com/settings/data-request has saved_posts.csv and saved_comments.csv, and they are not a listing cut at 1,000. Each save is one row: an id and a link. Here is what that gives you, and how to turn it back into a list you can use.

The short answer

Ask Reddit for your data, wait for the ZIP, and open it in Threadkeep. Every saved post and comment in the two files shows as a list you can filter by community and sort by how old the post is, each with a link that opens it on Reddit. Nothing is uploaded.

Why the saved tab stops at 1,000

Reddit shows long lists in pages, and its lists stop at about a thousand items. The documentation of PRAW, the most used Python library for Reddit, puts it this way: "Most of Reddit's listings contain a maximum of 1000 items, and are returned 100 at a time." Your saved list is one of those listings, in the app, on the website and for every tool that reads it through the API, so the oldest saves drop out of sight once you pass 1,000.

The data request is not a listing. Users of the open source Bulk Downloader for Reddit, which reads saves through the API, point to it as the one way past the limit. In their words: "You can't get past 1000 posts using any method bar the data request."

What saved_posts.csv holds

The two saved files in the export
FileColumnsOne row is
saved_posts.csvid, permalinkA post you saved
saved_comments.csvid, permalinkA comment you saved, with the link to the comment

There is no title, no text, no picture and no date you saved it. The link does carry two useful things: the community (/r/Sourdough/) and the start of the title, which Reddit writes into every link in lower case with underscores (my_starter_finally_doubled_in_six_hours). Threadkeep reads both, so the list reads like a list of titles again.

Sorting by the oldest save

The file does not say when you saved something. What it does have is the post's id, and Reddit's ids count up, so a smaller id is an older post. Threadkeep sorts by that: Oldest posts first puts the posts made longest ago at the top, which is the closest the export gets to "my oldest save". As in the export keeps Reddit's own order of the file.

Deleted posts and removed communities

A save stays in the file after the post is deleted or the community goes private, because the row is only a link. The link then opens an empty page on Reddit. If a save matters to you, open it and copy what you need while it is still there.

Moving the saves somewhere else

WhereHow
Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari bookmarksThreadkeep Pro saves a bookmarks file with a folder per community. Import it in the browser's bookmarks menu.

Obsidian or NotionThreadkeep Pro's archive has markdown/saved.md, the saves grouped by community as links.
A spreadsheetPro's archive has spreadsheets/saved.csv with type, community, title from the link and the full address.

Questions

Are saved comments in the data request too?

Yes, in their own file, saved_comments.csv, with the id and the link of each comment. Threadkeep lists them with your saved posts and marks them as comments.

Why do the titles look cut off?

They come from the link, and Reddit writes only the start of the title into it, in lower case and without punctuation. Open the link for the full title.

Can I unsave posts in bulk from the export?

No. The export is a copy of your data; changing anything on Reddit happens on Reddit itself.

Do I need to log in to Reddit on this page?

No. Threadkeep never connects to Reddit. You download the ZIP from Reddit yourself and choose it here.
