How long does a Discord data package take?
Discord's help article says "The data request process can take up to 30 days to complete." The link then comes by email and works for 30 days. Here is how to ask for it, what to tick so the package holds what you want, and what to do while you wait.
The short answer
Up to 30 days, to the email address your account has at the moment you ask. Packages often come sooner (one open source viewer tells its users a day or two), but plan for the full month, and do not disable or delete the account meanwhile: that cancels the request.
How to request it
| Where | Steps |
|---|---|
| Desktop app or browser | Cogwheel (User Settings) > Data & Privacy > Request your data > Request Data. Tick what you want, then Request My Data. |
| Phone | Your avatar > cogwheel > Data & Privacy > Request all of my data. On a phone you cannot pick parts; Discord sends everything. |
Your account needs a verified email address. Locked out of it? Discord's help article points to privacy@discord.com.
What to tick
| Tick | What you get |
|---|---|
| Account | user.json: your profile, friends and, since September 2026, the age signals (age group, age checks, predicted age). Tick this if the age group is why you are asking. |
| Messages | Every message you sent, by channel. Messages you deleted are not in it, and neither are other people's. |
| Servers | The servers you are in now and ones you left recently. |
| Activity | Event files, often gigabytes; in older packages these held the predicted age and gender guesses. |
While you wait
- You can only have one request open; a second has to wait until the first is done.
- The link goes to the email the account had when you asked. Changing the email later does not move it.
- Your current age group is in the app already, at User Settings > Account Status. If it is wrong
When the email arrives
Download package.zip within 30 days. A package can run to several gigabytes, most of it Activity files, so let the download finish before you open it. Packages made since late 2025 can have their folder names in your Discord language; that is normal.
Then choose the ZIP in Agelens. It reads the package in your browser, shows the age signals first, and lets you read and search every message you sent. Discord's help article says its support team cannot help with going through the package.
Package arrived? Open it here, ZIP or unzipped folder, any size. Nothing is uploaded.
Open your package in AgelensAgelens Pro, $8 paid once: every conversation in one ZIP, as pages that open offline, text files and one spreadsheet, with your age report. Get Pro on Gumroad or see what is free.
Questions
How long does a Discord data package take?
Discord says up to 30 days. The download link arrives by email and stays active for 30 days.
Can I request my Discord data again before the first one arrives?
No. Discord says you must wait for the current request to finish before submitting a new one.
What happens if I delete my account before the package comes?
The request is cancelled. Disabling the account cancels it too.
How far back does the Discord data package go?
It covers the account's whole history for what Discord still stores: every message you sent and did not delete, back to the first one. Servers you left long ago may be missing.
