Edge Collections gone? Your saved pages may still be on this PC
Microsoft removed Collections in Edge 149. Edge kept them in a database file in your profile folder, and on the PCs we have seen, the update left that file in place. Open that file here and save every collection as a bookmarks file that Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge can import.
- Each collection becomes a folder of bookmarks, in the order you kept it. Notes, clipped text and pictures are shown and go into the spreadsheet.
- Nothing is uploaded. The file is read by this page on your computer, and you never sign in.
- Free: browse and search everything, save the bookmarks file and the spreadsheet, copy the links, print it all.

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Collections
Open the Collections file
- Copy the folder address.
- Click "Choose the file", paste the address into the bar at the top of the window that opens, and press Enter.
- Pick the file called collectionsSQLite (not the one ending in -journal).
On a Mac, or with more than one Edge profile? See where the file is. The sample is made up, so you can see how it works first.
Opening your file
Reading it on this computer.
Your file never leaves this computer. It is read by this page, here, and nothing in it is stored or sent. We count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics: no cookies, no personal data, and never your files.
Your collections
Sample file, made up by StashbackThe bookmarks file holds every saved page, one folder per collection. Notes, clipped text and pictures cannot go into a bookmarks file, so they are in the spreadsheet and the printout. How to import it.
Where Edge keeps the Collections file
Edge stores Collections in a small database inside your browser profile. Microsoft does not document the file, but it is the same on every Windows and Mac install we know of, and digital forensics tools list it under this name.
On Windows
- Click "Choose the file" above. A Windows "Open" window appears.
- Click the address bar at the top of that window, paste
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Collectionsand press Enter. - Pick collectionsSQLite and click Open. The file has no extension; the one called collectionsSQLite-journal is a helper file and is usually empty.
On a Mac
- Click "Choose the file", then press Command, Shift and G together.
- Paste
~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft Edge/Default/Collectionsand press Return. - Pick collectionsSQLite and click Open.
More than one Edge profile
Each profile has its own folder: the first is Default, the others are Profile 1, Profile 2 and so on. Replace Default in the address with the profile's folder name. You can open several files one after another with "Add another profile's file"; each keeps its own label.
No Collections folder, or the file opens empty? If you used Edge with a personal Microsoft account, your collections may be kept online rather than in this file. Microsoft says personal accounts can still see them at bing.com/saves. Read Bing Saves and personal accounts.
Sources: Microsoft Support, Organize your ideas with Collections in Microsoft Edge; the file name and folder as listed in the forensics map Windows_EdgeBrowser_Collections (SQLECmd); and our own Windows 11 PC with Edge 156, where the folder and file were still present. What the file can hold, and what it may not
| Saved in Collections | In the file | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Web pages | Title, address, site name, date added | Bookmarks file, spreadsheet, printout |
| Notes you wrote | The note text | Spreadsheet and printout |
| Text you dragged in | The text and the page it came from | Bookmarks file (as the page), spreadsheet, printout |
| Pictures | The picture, when Edge kept a copy | Shown on screen and in the printout |
| Collections kept online | Sometimes only their names | Listed by name, with a pointer to bing.com/saves |
Pages you removed from a collection are left out, the same as Edge did. If Edge kept your collections online and synced them, the file on this computer can be older than what you saw last, or hold only the names. Stashback says so when it sees it.
Questions
Where did Collections go in Microsoft Edge?
Microsoft retired the feature. From Edge 145 you could no longer add pages, and Microsoft's help page says "Collections is no longer available starting with Microsoft Edge version 149, released on June 04th, 2026." More in where Edge Collections went.
Are my Edge Collections deleted?
Not necessarily. Edge keeps a database file called collectionsSQLite in your profile folder, and on our Windows 11 test PC with Edge 156 the file was still there in October 2026. Personal Microsoft accounts can also see their collections at bing.com/saves, Microsoft says.
Where is the Edge Collections file?
On Windows it is in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Collections, in a file called collectionsSQLite. Other profiles use folders such as Profile 1 instead of Default. On a Mac it is in ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft Edge/Default/Collections. See the file location guide.
How do I move Edge Collections to Chrome or Firefox?
Open the collectionsSQLite file on this page and save the bookmarks file. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all import a bookmarks HTML file, and each collection becomes a folder. Steps for each browser: export Edge Collections to Chrome, Firefox or Safari.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is opened by this page on your own computer. Nothing in it is sent or stored, and Stashback never asks you to sign in.
Is Stashback made by Microsoft?
No. Stashback is an independent tool by Peak Apps Studio and is not affiliated with Microsoft. Microsoft Edge is a trademark of its owner, named here only to say which file the tool opens.
