A Yahoo Notepad alternative: moving your notes to another app

Start with the file: once your notes are out of Yahoo, any notes app can take them, and the best replacement is usually the app you already open every day. Here is what each common app accepts today, from its maker's own help pages.

First, get the notes out

Ask Yahoo for the "Calendar and Notepad" download before January 15, 2027 (Yahoo Notepad to be discontinued), then open the file on Lastleaf. From there you can copy any single note, or save all of them as one text file.

Apple NotesiPhone, iPad, Mac, iCloud.comOn a Mac, File, Import to Notes takes .txt files, and each file becomes a note. On an iPhone or iPad, open the Files app, touch and hold the text file, tap Share, then Notes (Import or share notes and files to the Notes app).
Google KeepAndroid, iPhone, the webCopy a note on Lastleaf and paste it into a new Keep note. Keep's help center lists no article on importing files (checked October 27, 2026; Google Keep Help).

A note on the text file: it holds every note in one file. Imported into Apple Notes on a Mac, it becomes one long note with all your Yahoo notes inside. That is fine for keeping them safe; for one note per note, copy the ones you use often one by one. More export formats (Apple Notes / Evernote file, Word, PDF, Markdown) are coming.

Which one to pick

Notepad on Windows is not a notes app in this sense. It is Microsoft's text editor, unrelated to Yahoo Notepad, but it is a good way to open the text file Lastleaf saves.

Passwords and private notes

Many people kept passwords or account details in Yahoo Notepad. A notes app is not the best home for them: move those into a password manager, and keep the text file somewhere only you can open it.

Open your Notepad file

Got the file from Yahoo's email? Open it in your browser, read every note it holds with its notebook and dates, and save them all as one text file. Built for the export Yahoo describes and tested on sample files. Free, and nothing is uploaded.

Did Yahoo name a replacement for Notepad?

No. Yahoo's shutdown page describes the download and the date, January 15, 2027, and names no replacement app.

Can Google Keep import my Yahoo Notepad notes?

Keep's help center lists no file import. Copy each note on Lastleaf and paste it into a new Keep note.

Can I put my Yahoo notes in Apple Notes?

Yes. Save the text file with Lastleaf. On a Mac, use File, Import to Notes. On an iPhone, share the file from the Files app to Notes. The whole file becomes one note.
