Yahoo Notepad is going away. Open and save your notes
Yahoo is retiring Notepad on January 15, 2027. When your Yahoo notes download arrives by email, open the file here: every note becomes readable and searchable, and you can save them all as one text file.

Open your Notepad file
Pick the file from Yahoo's email. It ends in .json or .zip. You can pick several files, or drop them here.

Need help? Copy structure report
This report lists the names of the fields in your file and how many there are, so we can teach Lastleaf your file's layout. It holds no note text, titles, notebook names, dates or file names: what you see below is exactly what is copied. Sending it is up to you, to info@peakappsstudio.com.
Notes missing or looking wrong? Use "Copy structure report" (keys only, no note text) and email it to info@peakappsstudio.com. It lists the names of the fields in your file and how many there are, so we can teach Lastleaf its layout.

Your file never leaves this device. It is opened by this page, here, and nothing in it is stored or sent. We count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics: no cookies, no personal data, and never your files.
Lastleaf is built for the export Yahoo describes and tested on sample files; Yahoo has not published the file's layout. If your file doesn't open correctly, use "Copy structure report" (keys only, no note text) and email it to info@peakappsstudio.com.

Get your Notepad file from Yahoo
Yahoo sends Notepad together with your calendar, as a download you ask for in Yahoo Mail. These are the steps from Yahoo's own help page:
- Sign in to Yahoo Mail on a computer and go to the download manager. Yahoo's link is mail.yahoo.com/getmydata; type it yourself rather than clicking one in an email you were not expecting.
- Click Download under "Calendar and Notepad".
- Confirm the email address Yahoo should send it to, and click OK. When the email arrives, download the file and open it on this page.
Deleted notes are not in the file. Yahoo says deleted Notepad notes "don't move to your Trash folder and can't be recovered", so Lastleaf can only show the notes Yahoo still has.
Yahoo's help pages say its data downloads come in JSON, which "might be hard to read at a glance". That is the file this page reads. If it arrives as a ZIP, open the ZIP here as it is; you do not need to unpack it. If the email does not come, see where your Notepad is and what to try.
Sources: Yahoo Help, Yahoo Notepad to be discontinued, Add, edit, or delete notes in Yahoo Notepad and View and manage data associated with your account. Last checked: October 27, 2026. Lastleaf is built for the export Yahoo describes and tested on sample files: Yahoo has not published the layout of the Notepad file and we have not seen a real one, so it reads several layouts and asks you to point at the fields when it meets one it does not know.
After you save the text file
Keep two copies: one on your computer and one somewhere else, such as an email to yourself or a cloud drive. The file opens in Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on a Mac and the Files app on a phone. To move the notes into another notes app, see where to move your Yahoo Notepad notes; for notes you see on an iPhone, read Yahoo notes on an iPhone first, because those can be a different thing.
Questions
When is Yahoo Notepad going away?
Yahoo's help page says Notepad "will be completely retired by January 15, 2027", and that every download or save of your Notepad info has to happen before that date (Yahoo Help, checked October 27, 2026).
How do I download my Yahoo Notepad notes?
Sign in to Yahoo Mail, go to the download manager (Get my data), click Download under Calendar and Notepad, confirm the email address Yahoo should send it to and click OK. Yahoo emails you when the file is ready. The steps are above.
What is the file Yahoo sends, and why can't I read it?
Yahoo's help pages say its data downloads are in JSON, a format made for programs that may be hard to read at a glance. Open the file on this page and every note is shown with its title, notebook and dates.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened by this page on your own computer or phone. Nothing in it is sent or stored, and Lastleaf never asks for your Yahoo password.
Can Lastleaf bring back notes I deleted?
No. Lastleaf shows what is in the file Yahoo sends. Yahoo's help page says deleted Notepad notes do not go to the Trash and cannot be recovered.
Is Lastleaf made by Yahoo?
No. Lastleaf is an independent tool by Peak Apps Studio and is not affiliated with Yahoo. If an email or website asks for your Yahoo password to "save your notes", read how to tell a real Yahoo notice from a scam.
