Yahoo Notepad login: sign in to Yahoo Mail, then open Notepad

Yahoo's help pages describe no separate Notepad login. You sign in to Yahoo Mail with your Yahoo account and open Notepad from inside it. Yahoo says Notepad will be completely retired by January 15, 2027, so once you are in, save your notes.

Open Notepad after you sign in

Use the Yahoo account the notes were written in.

  1. Go to mail.yahoo.com on a computer and sign in with your Yahoo ID and password. Yahoo says you can reach your notes "from any computer by signing in to your account" (Add, edit, or delete notes in New Yahoo Mail).
  2. In new Yahoo Mail, click More in the right panel, then click the Notepad icon (Add, edit, or delete notes in New Yahoo Mail).
  3. In the older Yahoo Mail for Desktop, click the Notepad icon (Add, edit, or delete notes in Yahoo Notepad).
  4. Look in your notebooks. In new Yahoo Mail, new notes go into a notebook called "Notebook" by default, and notes are saved on their own.

Is there a separate Yahoo Notepad login?

Not in Yahoo's help pages. They describe one sign-in, the one for your Yahoo account, and then the Notepad icon in Mail. None of them names a separate Notepad web address. So your Yahoo Notepad login is your Yahoo ID and password.

A third-party site that asks for your Yahoo password to "log in to Notepad" or "export your notes" for you is not Yahoo. See how to tell a real Yahoo notice from a scam. Lastleaf never asks for your password. It only opens the file Yahoo emails you.

If you cannot sign in

That is a Yahoo account problem, and Yahoo's own fix is the Sign-in Helper (Fix problems signing into your Yahoo account).

Notepad on a phone

Yahoo's Notepad help pages describe opening it in Yahoo Mail on a computer. They do not mention the Yahoo Mail phone app, so we cannot say where to tap there. If you cannot find Notepad on a phone, sign in to Yahoo Mail on a computer.

When you turn on Notes for a Yahoo account on an iPhone, Yahoo says a "Notes" folder is created in Yahoo Mail (Sync Apple Notes with Yahoo Mail). That is a different thing from Notepad. Yahoo notes on an iPhone explains the difference.

Once you are in, save your notes

Yahoo's page says Notepad "will be completely retired by January 15, 2027", and that every download or save of your Notepad info has to happen before that date (Yahoo Notepad to be discontinued). Yahoo's way to save them is the download manager:

  1. In Yahoo Mail, go to the download manager. The download manager is at mail.yahoo.com/getmydata. Type the address yourself.
  2. Click Download under "Calendar and Notepad".
  3. Confirm the email address Yahoo should send it to, then click OK.

When Yahoo's email arrives, open the file on Lastleaf to read every note and save them as one text file. Lastleaf is built for the export Yahoo describes and tested on sample files. If the email does not come, see Yahoo Notepad download not working. If the file looks like code, see how to open the file Yahoo sends.

Deleted notes cannot be brought back. Yahoo says deleted notes "don't move to your Trash folder and can't be recovered" (Add, edit, or delete notes in Yahoo Notepad). The download holds only the notes Notepad still has.

The deadline and a short checklist are on what to do before January 15. If you cannot find Notepad in Mail at all, read where is my Yahoo Notepad.

Open your Notepad file

Got the file from Yahoo's email? Open it in your browser, read every note it holds with its notebook and dates, and save them all as one text file. Built for the export Yahoo describes and tested on sample files. Free, and nothing is uploaded.

Questions

Where do I log in to Yahoo Notepad?

Sign in to Yahoo Mail on a computer with your Yahoo account. In new Yahoo Mail, click More in the right panel, then the Notepad icon. In the older Mail, click the Notepad icon.

Does Yahoo Notepad have its own password?

Yahoo's help pages describe none. Your notes belong to your Yahoo account, so the sign-in is your Yahoo ID and password.

I cannot sign in to my old Yahoo account. Are my notes lost?

They are in that account, so they stay out of reach until you get back in. Use the Sign-in Helper with your recovery phone or email. Yahoo warns that without working recovery details you may not be able to regain access.

Can I open Yahoo Notepad on my phone?

Yahoo's Notepad help pages describe a computer and do not mention the Yahoo Mail phone app. If you cannot find it on a phone, sign in to Yahoo Mail on a computer.

Does Lastleaf need my Yahoo password?

No. Lastleaf opens the file Yahoo emails you, on your own device. It never asks for your Yahoo password or signs in for you.
