The Weebly archive email never arrived

Weebly’s help page says the link to your archive ZIP arrives “shortly”. When it does not, the steps Square’s staff gave in February 2026 for Weebly’s export email are: check the spam folder, add six Weebly sender addresses to your contacts, and as a last step move the account to an email address at another provider. Read the domain warning below before you do the last one. If nothing works, use Download My Data and write to Weebly’s support team.

What to check, in order

  1. Make sure the request went through. In the site editor open Settings, then General, scroll to Archive, type an address you can open right now and choose Email Archive. Weebly: “You’ll receive an email shortly with a link to download the archive as a ZIP file” (Back Up Your Site). The help page gives no time. In a February 2026 thread, Square staff asked a person to report back if an export email had not come “within the next hour or so”, so give it that long.
  2. Look in every folder. Spam, junk, promotions, quarantine. Search the mailbox for “weebly” and for each address in the next step.
  3. Allow the senders and ask again. Square’s staff member told the person to add these addresses to the email contacts: hello@weebly.com, noreply@weebly.com, no-reply@weebly.com, hello@emails.weebly.com, noreply@promote.weebly.com and no-reply@editmysite.com. Then request the archive again.
  4. Try another supported browser. The staff member first asked whether the export failed in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge too.
  5. Try a different address in the Archive box. Weebly’s page says to “enter your email address” and does not say it must be the account’s. We could not test whether the box accepts another one, so this is only worth a try.
  6. Last step from staff: change the account email. If the email still did not arrive, the staff reply says to update the Weebly account email to an address on a different platform, for example Outlook if you use Gmail. Read the next section first.
  7. Use the other route. Account Settings, My Data, Download My Data is a separate download that does not depend on the Archive box, and Weebly’s notice names its support team for questions about exporting your data (Upcoming Changes to Weebly’s Global Operations). Write to support and quote the line from the notice: access to the account lasts until 2026-12-26.

Before you change the account email. Weebly’s notice says that changing the registrant contact information of a domain (email, phone number, first or last name) starts a 60-day registrar lock during which the domain cannot be transferred, and asks owners to wait until after the transfer. The notice does not say whether the account email is the same as the domain’s registrant email. If Weebly is your domain registrar, ask support before you change any email.

What the evidence shows, and what it does not

We looked for dated, public reports of this problem on Square’s Community forum. The strongest is a thread about Weebly’s export email for store items, which Weebly also delivers as an email with a link, sent “at the email address on your account” (Import, Export, and Batch Update Items with a CSV File). That is why staff suggested changing the account email. Here is what the thread shows:

The Square Community thread “Unable to export my Weebly site items”
Date (2026)What happened
February 22An owner starts the export from Weebly. The email with the link never arrives, though other emails do.
February 24Square staff ask about other browsers, try an export from their side, and ask for a smaller export. The owner exports about ten items, and about 1.5 hours later there is still no link.
February 25Staff give the spam folder step, the six addresses and the advice to change the account email. The owner tries two browsers and two email accounts, including Gmail, and allows the addresses. Still nothing.
May 6 to June 6The owner reports hours on the phone without a fix, a second owner reports the same problem, and the first owner then reports being told that, because the account is an older Weebly one from before the Square upgrade, Square cannot help.

So the advice above is the staff’s, and in that thread it did not work. We found no confirmed fix. We also found no public 2026 thread about the archive link itself, only this one about the export link and a June 12 post where password reset emails did not arrive either (thread). If the archive link fails for you, Download My Data and a written request to support are the routes that do not depend on it.

When the ZIP does arrive

Save it right away and do not unzip it: Rehoused reads the ZIP as it is, on your computer, and turns it into a plain website with the same page names. Blog posts and store products are not in the archive: here is how to keep them. If you cannot sign in to ask for the archive at all, start with Can’t log in to Weebly.

Open your Weebly archive

Choose the archive ZIP Weebly emailed you: the same pages come back as a clean website with your pictures in place, and a report lists what the archive could not bring. Free, and nothing is uploaded.

Questions

How long does the Weebly archive email take?

Weebly’s help page says “shortly” and gives no time. In a February 2026 thread, Square staff asked a person to report back if an export email had not arrived within about an hour.

Which addresses does Weebly send from?

Square staff listed six in February 2026: hello@weebly.com, noreply@weebly.com, no-reply@weebly.com, hello@emails.weebly.com, noreply@promote.weebly.com and no-reply@editmysite.com. Add them to your contacts and check spam.

Is there another way to get my Weebly site?

Account Settings, My Data, Download My Data is a separate download, and Weebly’s support team is named in its notice for questions about exporting your data. Weebly’s help does not say what the My Data download contains.

Will changing my account email cause a problem?

Weebly’s notice says changing a domain’s registrant contact details starts a 60-day transfer lock. It does not say whether the account email counts, so ask support first if Weebly registered your domain.
