Your export stays on your device
When you open a Strava export, the page hands the file to a worker script running in the same browser tab. It reads activities.csv, bikes.csv and shoes.csv, and the route files in the activities folder only when you draw the Pro route poster. Photos, your profile and the other files in the ZIP are not opened. Nothing from the export is sent to a server, ours or anyone else’s, and nothing is stored: closing or reloading the tab discards it. Story cards, the poster and the CSV are drawn in the tab and saved straight to your device.
What the page does send
- The Pro license check. When you paste a license key, the page sends that key and the product’s number to Gumroad’s license check (api.gumroad.com) and keeps the answer in your browser’s local storage, so Pro stays on. It checks again in the background once a week. No export data goes with it.
- Visit counts. We count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and no personal data. It never sees your files.
- Buying Pro. The buy button opens Gumroad, which handles payment under its own privacy policy. We get your email address and the purchase from Gumroad, to answer questions and refunds.
Garmin files
The Garmin pages read the same way, in the same tab. From the Activities.csv of Garmin Connect they read the activity list. From the archive of Export Your Data they open only the activity summaries, the daily step totals, the sleep records and, when you draw the Pro route poster, the original activity files; your profile, weight, devices and the other files in the archive are not opened. Nothing is sent or stored.
